Where are you at in the game right now? This can be done once you reach the crystal desert. It's round about mid to late game. To change it, you'll need to find a guy and run a quest then ask him to change you.

Here's some info I put together for my guild:

OK, I now have hands-on experience with changing your secondary profession. First of all the character you are playing does not have access to all past skills at once. You have to go back to the NPC and change your profession to get access to the old skills. The NPC's for changing your profession can be found in 3 places, all in the Arid Sea desert.

* Seeker's Passage - Monk / Ranger
* Hero's Audience - Necromancer / Elementalist
* Destiny's Gorge - Warrior / Mesmer

Each NPC will give you a quests which you must complete to change your profession. Once you choose a new profession you must go to Skill Trainers and purchase the skills for that profession. At level 20 you continue to gain experience, but instead of gaining a new level you gain a skill point.

This is from BETA, but is now implemented into the live game...

In addition to the experimentation that you're allowed in Kingdom of Ascalon, where you can give every secondary profession a "trial run," you can now amend your character after you have reached Ascension(usually level 20). This means that a character into whom you've invested a goodly amount of time will be one that can be changed, rather than started anew. You don't need to recast, you can simply reconfigure by a method that is tied to the upper-level story of Guild Wars. It's like doing a re-spec, but better.

Another nice thing, according to one of our game designers, James Phinney, is that when you do choose a new secondary profession, you will keep all the skills that you have acquired with your other choices. So, if you selected Elementalist as a secondary profession when you first created the character, then changed to a Mesmer secondary, if in the future you decide to revisit the Elementalist again, you'll be stocked with all the skills that the character had on board before moving to that new profession.

The bottom line is that you could have a primary character who has experimented with all five available secondary professions. That character will likely have good stock of skills in each of those lines. In fact, that character could have every skill in each of the five available secondaries. The character then, in ways not yet to be revealed, will be able to shift to a different secondary and take advantage of a long history of roleplaying character development.

SUMMARY
You dont get one chance. You can change your secondary profession AS OFTEN as you want. You have to be level 20 and then do the secondary class quests. I have all secondary classes unlocked on my necro and switch between them all depending on my role in the group - whenever you switch it saves your abilities as well so you can have every ability in the game unlocked on just one character.

I have a question though. I talked to the guy in seeker's passage and did her quest. But I didn't get any request on being monk... she won't offer me any other quest either, how should I do.

You need to Ascend prior to changing your secondary profession. You need to complete the 3 missions given to you in Augury Rock (Thirsty River,
Dunes of Despair, Eloine) and then beat your mirror self.

Yes you can, and you can change to every secondary and get all of the elites if you wanted. That is why I think they put this in the game, to make it easy for one character to unlock late game skills for every proffession rather than having to make new characters everytime you wanted to unlock some skills of a particular profession.

OK, I need to make a change here. I've read elsewhere that you can actually change your secondary profession AT ANY TIME if you do the missions. No need to Ascend or be level 20. Easy way to verify this, go back to the NPC in Seekers Passage and make sure they're not offering to make you a monk. Make sure you're clicking on the right NPC. Should be the last option when you click on them.

I didn't try to change my secondary until after Ascension so I couldn't tell you for sure that you can't do this pre-ascension.

If it doesn't let you do it, try to take a screenshot of what the NPC is saying when you click on them.

Let us know either way...

So after youve changed your second profession to another class, would you get any basic spells at all or be able to do quests for them? OR would you have to buy them all from a skill trainer instead.. Thanks.

And you say that you can change between the secondary professions. Can you do that at any time, anywhere? Or do you have to visit those NPCs again to change your 2ndary prof?

You can virtually be every class with one character, just your main will never change. You can also virtually get every skill and elite for all the classes. Take forever but it's doable. And you can change your 2ndary class as many times as you want to, back n forth. Just go back to one of the seers and they will ask you what you want to change to. Providing you've done all the class quests. If you are rich you can "buy" all your regular class skills in Hell and all you'll have to do is go cap the elites for each class.

But, remember this, when you start a new character, none of these skills that you got with your first character come over to your 2nd character or 3rd or 4th, you have to do it "ALL OVER" again. Wish they would change this part, but, I suppose it's fair. I was smart though and got my characters to Hell before the expensive skills update they did where everything costs a plat now and bought all the skills that I couldn't get in quests. Too late now though, they are expensive as heck now in Hell.
